I placed a booking, what happens now?
Booking and Payment Process
Once we receive your booking, we immediately begin contacting our partners. Once all partners have confirmed the booking, we will send you the confirmation (this may take up to 24 hours). Along with the confirmation, you will receive a payment link from STO Garant. STO Garant secures your travel sum until your entire trip is completed.
We require a pre-payment of 15% within two weeks of booking. Six weeks before the departure date, the remaining 85% must be paid. Once STO Garant has received the full payment (100%), we will send your travel documents to your home address.
If your departure date is within six weeks, we ask for the full payment upfront, and your travel documents will be sent to you immediately.
Can I cancel after booking?
Cancellation Policy
You can cancel your trip free of charge up to 6 weeks before the departure date. In this case, the 15% deposit will be refunded to your account by STO Garant.
For cancellations made within 6 weeks before departure, the following conditions apply:
- Cancellation between 1 and 7 days before the confirmed arrival date on the invoice: 15% of the booking amount.
- Cancellation between 5 and 2 weeks before the confirmed arrival date on the invoice: 50% of the booking amount.
- Cancellation within 2 weeks before the confirmed arrival date on the invoice: 75% of the booking amount.
- Cancellation within 5 days before the confirmed arrival date on the invoice: 100% of the booking amount.
For any cancellation on or after the confirmed arrival date on the invoice: the entire booking amount will be forfeited.
Travel and Cancellation Insurance
Friesland Holland Travel does not provide travel or cancellation insurance. You are required to arrange this through your own insurance company.
Please note, weather conditions are not considered a valid reason for cancellation.
Do you also offer travel and cancellation insurance?
No, we do not offer travel and cancellation insurance, we can highly recommend that you purchase it from your own insurance company before you start your trip.
How is a package price calculated?
Pricing information
The package prices listed are per person, based on two people sharing a room. A surcharge of 50% applies for a single occupancy room. This surcharge applies only to hotel accommodations and does not apply to services such as bicycle rentals, for example.

Is there an emergency number?

Do I have to pay extra for luggage transport?
Many packages include luggage service in the price, but there are also packages where this is not the case. You can find this information in the price overview of the package itself. In the price overview you can see what is included and excluded in the package.
Luggage transport
- Your luggage needs to be at the reception no later than 09.00 am.
- Your luggage must have a label of Friesland Holland Travel (you will receive the labels together with the documentation)
- Your luggage can be delivered until 18.00hr (if the luggage is not at the reception at 18.00, please call the emergency number in your documentation)
- 1 piece of luggage per person, max. 15kg.

Can I also book last minute (up to one day before departure)?
This may require some improvising. We will contact you as soon as we confirm availability with all of our partners. Once the booking is confirmed, we will request the full 100% payment immediately.
Your travel documents will be delivered to your starting hotel, and we will send the itinerary to your email address.
When will I receive my information package?
The information package will be sent to your address six weeks before your arrival date, once the full 100% payment has been received.
For last-minute bookings (within one week of departure), we will deliver the travel documents to your starting hotel and send the itinerary to your email address.
Can I use a GPS route or navigation system during my vacation?
If you are cycling the Eleven Cities Tour, we will provide you with a detailed itinerary. This will include the cycling junctions used by the official Elfstedenroute. These junctions are listed in an overview that you can easily upload to your navigation system.
Please note: As mentioned above, the bicycle junctions we provide follow the official Cycling Elfstedenroute. You can view these nodes for each stage and adjust the route to your preferences at any time.
You can also download a GPS track from route.nl, which can be used with your navigation system or phone. The Eleven Cities Route is available here: https://www.route.nl/fietsroute/115090/friese-elfstedentocht-per-fiets.
When will I receive a booking confirmation?
When you book through our website, we will immediately begin contacting our partners. Once all confirmations have been received, we will send you the booking confirmation along with the payment link (via STO Garant). This process may take up to 24 hours.
You made a booking with Friesland Travel, but did not receive a confirmation?
If you don’t receive the confirmation email within 24 hours, please check your email’s SPAM folder. Sometimes, important emails can end up there, especially with Gmail.

Should we start cycling right away when we arrive?
Day 1 is not your first day of cycling, so you can travel to your starting address at your own pace. You can usually check into your room from 3 p.m., but feel free to explore the area before then. Your cycling tour will begin on day 2.
Please note that the last day is often still a cycling day. You can find more details about this in the daily program of your package.
